Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is a high-precision satellite positioning technology that dramatically improves the accuracy of standard GNSS systems such as GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, and GLONASS. While conventional GPS typically provides position accuracy in the range of 3 to 10 meters, RTK enables centimeter-level precision (approximately 1–3 cm) by using real-time correction data generated by reference stations at known locations. These stations continuously measure errors in satellite signals—caused by atmospheric effects, satellite clock drift, and orbital inaccuracies—and transmit correction data to mobile receivers (rovers). By applying these corrections in real time, RTK achieves an accuracy improvement of nearly 100×, making it an essential technology for autonomous vehicles, drones, robotics, and any system that must operate safely and reliably in constrained or complex environments.
